Have you ever noticed how old things somehow feel more alive? Like a worn leather chair or a faded recipe card. A vintage bracelet with scratches on the clasp. A book with someone’s handwriting inside from 1974. You can feel the history in it, that’s what we love most about leather, it changes.
Vegetable-tanned leather darkens with sunlight, softens over time, and develops marks unique to the person carrying it. No two TRACE journals age exactly the same, we think that’s beautiful.
Perfection is forgettable. Patina tells a story.
That tiny scratch from throwing your journal into your bag every day. The softened edges from constantly reaching for it. The pen mark you accidentally made while sitting in a coffee shop trying to organize your entire life. Those things matter. Vintage objects feel emotional because they carry evidence of living.
In a world full of disposable everything, we think people are craving objects that stay. Things that age with you. Things that become more beautiful because they were used.
